CVE-2026-112917 PUBLISHED

Docker Desktop WSL2 AF_VSOCK isolation bypass via 32-bit socketcall

Assigner: Docker
Reserved: 19.10.2026 Published: 03.11.2026 Updated: 04.11.2026

In Docker Desktop for Windows with the WSL2 backend, an unprivileged Linux container can use 32-bit socketcall to bypass the default seccomp restriction on AF_VSOCK. This can expose host-facing services and Windows files accessible to the logged-in user. The issue affects x86-64 WSL2; LinuxKit-based backends are unaffected. The issue is fully fixed only with Docker Desktop 4.98.0 or later and WSL 3.0.3 or later. Docker Desktop 4.98.0 or later running on an older WSL remains affected.

Product Docker Desktop
Versions Default: affected
  • unaffected from 4.98.0 to * (excl.)

Affected Configurations

Affects the WSL2 backend on x86-64 hosts (32-bit syscall compatibility is enabled in stock WSL kernels). Host-file access requires a reachable host-side AF_VSOCK service. The fix requires WSL 3.0.3 (kernel 6.18.54.1) or later.

Solutions

Upgrade to Docker Desktop 4.98.0 or later and WSL 3.0.3 or later. Both are required.
